Lamborghini Huracán Performante’s Divine Details

What’s Changed
Lamborghini made the Huracán Performante more powerful. Titanium intake valves are lighter and hotter, giving the intake-camshaft a performance upgrade with a full power curve once past 4000 rpm.
Lamborghini then shaved 90 pounds off the standard Huracán model. The patented Forged Carbon Composite used on fins, spoilers, center console, headrests, interior handles, shifting paddles, and other strategic elements lightened the load. The simplified stainless steel exhaust system also did its part.
Lamborghini further developed better suspension. The power-to-weight ratio steps up by seven percent. Roll stiffness climbed by 15 percent. Finally, and most notably, Lamborghini advanced the aerodynamics. A front splitter and larger active rear wing provide huge downforce in the right places at the right time, increasing maneuverability and handling.
ALA, Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva, is an active valve system, front and rear, controlling airflow more naturally. Valves, left and right, open or close in .2 seconds, strategically placed to create 750 percent more downforce than the standard Huracán. The front spoiler takes in air, splitting the downforce mid-turn to inside wheels for better cornering. The system uses aero-vectoring on the rear wing, and applying downforce on each wheel as required.
Brand Style and Performance
The Performante has a 640 hp, 5.2-liter V10 naturally-aspirated engine with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Fast and efficient, the power moves this beauty from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.9 seconds, and the carbon ceramic disc brakes freeze it from 100 km/h to 0 with a 31-meter stopping distance.
Choose to drive in one of three thrilling modes, each with a different dashboard and graphics. Strada is an easy, automatic mode for driving around town. Sport is a little stiffer and edgier. Corsa is king, for drivers seeking maximum downforce, stiffest shock response, heavy steering, and hard core suspension, with a showy, full tachometer.
Icing on the Cake
With so much to like on the technical side, Lamborghini has not forgotten aesthetic creature comforts. The transparent engine bonnet for a delicious view of the powerful bronze engine, the sleek profile with forged carbon composite accents, the racy red flip cover over the start button, and the big shifting paddles leave no question that this is a performance-oriented car.
The light below the doors that shines the Lamborghini logo on the pavement when opened, the luscious laser-engraved leathers and fine stitching on the interior, and the racy venting on the sides confirm her luxury status. There’s even a designated place for an iPhone with Apple CarPlay to access calls, directions, and music. Understandably, should preference lean toward that hot Lamborghini soundtrack coming from behind the headrests, the choice of playlists might not involve Siri.
