Wider Yacht’s ‘Never Enough’ Philosophy: The Elegant Wider 150

Take the imaginative concept of a versatile Cybertron Autobot and pair that with the profile of an ultra-chic superyacht. Give it inspired Italian design, with a healthy dose of high technology. Then, gift it with transformative features that add space and you have the Wider 150. This is a yacht so different, so inspired, so gorgeous, it has both surprised and captured the attention of an entire industry, elevating the game across the board.

Launch of Wider Yacht

Beginning with the Wider 42 in 2010, Tilli Antonilli quickened heartbeats of buyers and gave the yachting world something new to think about: a 42-foot yacht capable of expanding deck space at anchor to 18 square meters at the touch of a button, in 12 seconds. That feature alone was impressive, but there was so much more.

The cockpit dining table lowered to cocktail height, or went completely flush, opening the space for a smart chaise lounge. The stern adapted to store dive equipment, stow a 2.75-m tender, a jet ski, or a game fishing fighting chair. Plus, it was fast. That was just the beginning. Experiencing demand and the success that came with it, Wider recently launched its first 150-foot yacht, in October of 2015, out of their new Ancona, Italy superyacht facility.

Wider 150 Put to the Test

At her November, 2015 sea trials, Wider 150 pushed the boundaries not only of design and function, but of performance as well. Azimuthal pod maneuverability performance was described as “spectacular” by experienced captain Claudio Candelaresi. The diesel-electric power system delivered the push with a 15 percent fuel advantage, enabling the yacht to supply hotel systems on the yacht for 8 hours in unbelievable silence, without the noise of a generator. Wider 150 is also capable of running at 5kts for 6 hours in ZEM, Zero Emission Mode.

Calmly cruising at 11 kts, Wider 150 tested at very quiet 43 db in the master cabin, 41 db in the main saloon, 40 db in the VIP cabin, and 37 db in the Sky Lounge, with A/C at 50 percent, stabilizers on, and one gen set running at 1600 rpm. Record-setting vibration readings measured less than 1mm/sec throughout the yacht. At 13 kts, Wider 150 travels 2,500 nm, upping the distance to 4,700 nm doing 10 kts, with a maximum speed of 14.1 kts.

Receiving a perfect RINA score of 100 points out of 100, the response is as expected. Wider 150 sales are brisk, as its innovation continues to deliver incredible advances in propulsion, weight, form, and function. Although Wider is a relatively new company, it is guided by an experienced hand. Antonilli’s deep knowledge from previous years as founder and president of Pershing Yachts is visible in every Wider model.
