2018 Monaco Yacht Show In Review

Nov 13, 2018 | NAVIS October / November 2018

As the Mediterranean yachting season begins to wind down, wrapping itself in the splendor that is the Monaco Yacht Show, it is only fitting to give it a proper send-off with a comprehensive review. Since 1991, the Monaco show has drawn prestigious guests in search of the largest and latest in yachting technology. This 28th year continued to build on the show’s reputation as THE show for serious superyacht shopping.

Heesen’s Scrumptious Breakfast

NAVIS dove into the busy mix attending a presentation by Heesen in the Salle Eiffel at Hôtel Hermitage. While nibbling on a delicious breakfast overlooking Port Hercules, we found Heesen’s plans and projects just as delicious. The 80-meter, all aluminum, superyacht Project Cosmos whetted our cruising appetites with her “backbone,” her expected 29-knot speed, and her exquisite lines from Winch Designs, complemented by interiors from the award-winning hand of Sinot. Debuting at the show, Heesen’s 51-meter Irisha delighted attendees with rumors of 25-knot capability and handsomely detailed interiors.

Ferretti Fabulous

Ferretti Group introduced their Private Preview audience at the Yacht Club de Monaco by bringing Sting to the stage in celebration of two days of onboard visits to the 30 vessels at the show representing the brand, including six world premières. Interwoven with the lyrics of Fields of Gold, Fragile, Every Breath You Take, and Message in a Bottle, messages regarding care for the environment were well received. Partnering with Maserati for the event, made it a magical evening.

Additional models were revealed at the Ferretti Group press conference the opening day of the show. Details about investments, new projects, and yachts under construction included a 79-meter CRN, a 69-meter collaboration with Zuccon, a 62-meter Omega, a 50-meter Riva, and a Pershing 170 project. The beautiful pale aqua, 50-meter, Liberty style Latona also made her world debut.
